And, in all fairness, it was here the other day. I’m just now getting around to opening the thing.
At any rate, it’s pictured on the right, and it’s… OK. I can get 90.7 on it in the full FM mode, so the reception isn’t bad. I can even sort of get 94.5 (which is [...]
Live Sports Radio 2008 Season Device is Here
Bad News HD Fans - Your Cable/Satellite Provider Still Sucks
You may have been excited (like I was) to hear that Raycom games this year would be broadcast in “stunning high definition”. Well, maybe not. According to Ian Rappaport at the Rap Sheet, we still lose:
That’s because, while CW21 does broadcast HD like other Birmingham TV stations, neither the Dish, nor DirecTV, nor the local [...]
CTSN Broadcasts Available Home and Away
The Crimson Tide Sports Network has arranged to make their radio broadcasts available at all venues - home and away - via Live Sports Radio. The broadcast will come directly to the receivers without delay. The receivers are $15 (shipping for mine was $5). We’ll give you first impressions when it arrives.
Seems like a nice [...]
Kickoff Times Firming Up
It must be close… kickoff times and TV schedules are getting set. The first three games are set, and our sources say the fourth is likely to be sewn up as well.
We’ve known for some time the Clemson game will kick off at 7:00 pm CST on ABC.
SEC Inks HUGE Deal with CBS for 2023 Season
And all the seasons in between.
CBS and the SEC have signed a 15 year deal for broadcast rights. That is right on through the 2023 season. That looks so wierd to type.
There are a few new wrinkles in the deal:
“Hey Coach!” Begins Thursday Night
We let you know a couple of days ago about the new location for the Tide’s weekly coaches call-in show “Hey Coach!”
The Buffalo Wild Wings era of “Hey Coach!” begins this Thursday (Aug 14th) at 6:30 p.m. This week’s show will include Tide Volleyball Coach Judy Green, new Soccer Coach Todd Bramble & new Assistant [...]
Update on Crimson Tide Sports Network Changes
The full press release regarding the Crimson Tide Sports Network changes has been released, and there’s more news there.
First, more exciting details on the “guest players”:
So Long, Skip
Skip Caray didn’t have Keith Jackson’s booming voice or his casually poetic way with sports colloquialisms. He didn’t have Howard Cosell’s way of presenting a sporting competition as if it were the culmination of all of human history. He couldn’t draw word pictures like Jack Buck, explain his game’s mechanics with the credibility [...]
Tide Broadcast to Include “Guest Players”
Breaking news from the broadcast front - the Crimson Tide Sports Marketing has announced that the Tide radio this year will feature a guest player. From today’s “Crimson Tide Today” (hosted by Tom Roberts):
We’ll have all the action starting at 4 o’clock that Saturday… with Eli Gold, Barry Krauss, Chris Stewart, Tyler Watts, yours truly…and [...]
Fran to Call Bama-Clemson Game on ESPN Radio
Good news! Bill Curry is no longer employed by the Worldwide Leader. Bad news. ESPN Radio has asked Dennis Franchione (a name I hoped to never have to spell again) to call games. His first? The Alabama-Clemson tilt from the Georgia Dome (thanks to the Rap Sheet for the heads up). That’s the report out [...]
