Just taking a moment to touch on the stories we didn’t hit this week. I was out of town - we’ll just assume everyone was.
The normally serious Sunday Morning Quarterback has a little fun with Andre Smith.
Reger Dowell (PG commit from Texas) is still from Texas - but no longer a Bama commitment (subscription required).

Richard Hendrix has been selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 49th pick of the NBA Draft. Jay Bilas is presently highlighting his rebounding skills. He’s calling him “tough” and the graphics say he “Must Improve: Athleticism”. That always goes well.
The Warriors don’t seem a particularly good fit for Hendrix; in the first round, [...]

Richard Hendrix will be drafted in Thursday’s NBA Draft. That much is a near certainty. But… where?
Projections range all over the board - Hendrix is either a huge sleeper or being drafted in the late second round.

It may get lost in the incredible ending to the US Open, but big news for the Alabama basketball team broke today. This was the last day for underclassmen to pull out of the NBA draft, and Ronald Steele did just that. However, his teammate Richard Hendrix opted to head for the NBA.

Anthony Brock, of Itawamba Community College (of Itawamba, Mississippi - yes it is just outside of Fulton) has inked a scholarship offer to play for the Tide next season.
The unsettlingly small Brock [...]

If we were making a short list of things I never thought I’d blog about, press coverage of the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship would be near the top of the list. But, thanks to Deadspin and Paul Gattis, that’s exactly what I’m doing.
It seems that Gattis has decided to flaunt NCAA rules about blogging from [...]

Alabama reserve guard Justin Tubbs has asked for, and been granted, his release from the University of Alabama. While Tubbs was a fan favorite, his loss on the court will be minimal, as he was the 11th man - and last scholarship player - off of the bench for the Tide this season. When that [...]

Back to back whammies for the point guard position at the Capstone this weekend.
First, the news that Ronald Steele has decided to test the draft waters. According to his father, if Steele is projected in the first round, he’ll go to the NBA. Otherwise, he’s back for his senior season at the Capstone. It seems [...]
