Bama Sports Report - An Alabama Crimson Tide Blog
Greg McElroy for Heisman
Written by Glen Turner

This article isn't really about why Greg McElroy should win the Heisman.  It's really about the odd mindset of some Alabama fans.

However, before I get to that I'll say a few words about the title subject:

Injury Report

It looks like bad news for both Bama football and Bama basketball.

The official news first - senior forward Demetrius Jemison will miss the entire 2009-2010 basketball season with a ruptured achilles tendon. While Demetrius isn't the most gifted basketball player on the floor, I'm guessing he would have fared quite while in a system that rewards guys who hustle and play hard.

Unofficially it looks like the Dont'a Hightower injury is as bad as originally thought. I'm sure Coach Saban will let us know for sure during his Monday press conference, but we're hearing that he has torn his MCL and ACL. The second one is the big one, and if true, means he'll miss the remainder of the 2009 season, as well as the 2010 spring practice.

We'll have more on what the Tide will have to do to replace Hightower during the week.

Guessing Game... RETURNS

Ugh - the last few weeks my contributions here have been a disaster. I apologize for that. I have picks from last week... that weren't posted. I should have had this up yesterday (so that nxojkt and Crump could gloat about picking South Carolina). I did not. Sorry fellas.

Anyway, I can't find the results from week one right now... so we wander in the wilderness and we'll just hammer through this weeks picks after the jump...

Week 3: Receivers

Fresh on the heels of Coach Saban letting us know on his call-in show "Hey Coach!" that Julio Jones would play on Saturday against Arkansas, here's a look at how the receivers have done through the first 25% of the 2009 season.

Week 3: Running Backs

I did my look at the Alabama quarterbacks earlier. Now here's a look at the Tide's four-headed rushing attack that has been all but unstoppable through the first three games of the season.

Week 3: Quarterback

I'll be honest and tell you that I have very little interest in analyzing what Alabama did well on either offense or defense against North Texas. Bama won the game 53-7, and it could have been 83-7 if the Tide coaches had been interested in that. The answer to the question - what did Alabama do well against North Texas? Everything. Extra points were a bit dicey, but that discussion wouldn't take up a lot of space.

So instead of trying to give a run down of the one specific game, I thought I'd take a look at where the Tide stands from a statistical standpoint at the 1/4 mark of the season.

The Alabama football team was once again in full pads for its Wednesday afternoon practice. The weather has improved as the week has gone on, though it looks as though there is a chance of rain again this weekend. According to Coach Saban, Bama practices with a wet ball every Monday, so if rain does come into play on Saturday, the Tide will be ready.

Blog Poll 2009 - Week #3 (Revised)
Written by Ell

Based on feedback in our forums, I've adjusted my Blogpoll ballot. I've removed my Arkansas stunt vote, and replaced it with Auburn. I also moved Florida back to the second spot, because, on further reflection, Texas didn't really show me much either.

Full poll after the jump.

I guess my days as a weather forecaster are over, and that's good news for the Alabama football team. The weather in Tuscaloosa cleared up this afternoon, and the Tide was able to have its full pads practice outside.

Here's what you need to know:

North Texas From the Couch
Written by Glen Turner

How bad is North Texas?  That's the question of the week, because what we know right now is that either North Texas is really really bad, or else Bama is really really good.

The final score, 53-7, sounds like a beatdown, but it actually wasn't that close.  At least as long as the Bama starters were in the game, this was total domination of a sort that Bama has not exercised in quite a while, possibly since the Bear Bryant days.  Both our offense and our defense did whatever the heck they wanted to whenever they felt like it.

Let's break it down.
