Bama Whips Mississippi State

As usual, we will have more in the coming days, but we really can't let the night end without some comment on Bama's 31-3 whipping of Mississippi State.

Yes, the kickoff coverage was an issue again.

That was it.

Everything else was solid... possibly even great.

Mark Ingram further solidified himself as the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy with 149 yards and 2 touchdowns. And Greg McElroy was accurate again.

This is what championship teams do in November against over-matched teams.

Guessing Game - Week 11
Written by Ell

I'm angry with new basketball Coach Anthony Grant. Angry is probably too stong. But no matter what Mal Moore said in an e-mail to supporters this week, a 1:00 basketball tip in Tuscaloosa does not leave time for the trip to 6:00 kick at State post-game. Unless you'd like to arrive in the third quarter after parking in Columbus. Next time, play the game on Friday, Coach. That's what Mississippi State did! It says here they beat Rider 88-74 last night.

Oh... wait.. I'm being told the 19th ranked Bulldogs got beat by Rider last night? Ouch. Nevermind, Coach. Do what you want...

Glen was PERFECT last week. Nice work picking the Oregon State upset. One more good week, and Glen could pass me! Inconceivable!

Your results and pick:

PickerLast Week Total Record
Ell 4-2
32-10
Glen 6-0 30-12
nxojkt 4-2
27-15
Crump 4-2 24-18

And now, this week's games!

Tide Assistant Picking His Seat... on TMZ?
Written by Ell
Thursday, 12 November 2009 12:59

Tide Assistant Picks His SeatYes, Alabama is featured on TMZ.com today. Early this morning the celebrity gossip site posted a photo of what appeared to be Nick Saban digging at his... well, "end zone". It turns out it's lilkely an assistant and not the head coach himself. Either way, just totally bizarre that Nick Saban rates a mention alongside Mike Tyson's LAX drama and Carrie Prejean's insanity.

You'd think he was Pete Carroll or something...

Thanks to my friend Nish for forwarding this on - no TMZ is not on my morning reading list.

Kiffin Talked About the No-Hitter
Written by Ell
Thursday, 12 November 2009 08:26

In yesterday's SEC Teleconference Lane Kiffin said:

“We’ve had zero arrests in now 11 months here.”

Looks like someone spoke too soon. Less than 12 hours later, 3 Tennessee players have been arrested for armed robbery. They allegedly held up three kids at a convenience store on Knoxville's Cumberland Avenue - basically their strip.

Kiffin just can't seem to help stepping in it - no matter what he does.

Movement Among the Bama Quarterbacks?

First of all, let's get this out of the way up front - Greg McElroy is the starting quarterback. There's no danger of that changing, barring something extremely horrible happening.

Having said that, there looks to be a possible shakeup behind him on the depth chart.

LSU From The Couch

As it turns out, I didn't make it to the couch to start analyzing the LSU game until Monday. That's because I was in Tuscaloosa this weekend.

While I was there, I went to a football game. Let's chat about it, shall we?

Happey Veteran's Day to all of you out there who have served, or who currently are serving, in our nation's military.

The Alabama football team had its final "open" practice of the week on Wednesday afternoon, and the weather in Tuscaloosa cooperated enough to allow the team to practice outside. Once again in full pads, the practice continued to be high intensity.

Bama Hoops Wins Final Exhibition

I could go into a deep analysis of the game in an attempt to explain why Alabama didn't look particularly good against Augusta State on Tuesday night. But really, it's easier to just let Coach Grant sum it up...

Despite the fact that the state media appears as though they would prefer to continue talking about the "interception" in the LSU game, the Alabama football team has moved on to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Practice #2 of the week was held today, and
