The Game

--

What happened this week is pretty simple: we ran into a buzzsaw.  Stephen Garcia had the game of his life, by a very wide margin, throwing accurately downfield under pressure time and time again.  With the talent that surrounds him, South Carolina is a very difficult team to beat with Garcia playing like that.

It was a difficult situation: on the road, against the third straight very tough opponent, and the week after a focused effort against our biggest rival (for right now).  Add an on-fire Garcia to that, and Bama had to play its very best game to win.  That didn't happen, although we didn't play anywhere near as terribly as you might think if you got your news off of Bama-football-related message boards. no comments

Our Bloguin brethren at Leftover Hot Dog approached us about doing a Q&A swap with them, and we were all too happy to oblige. We popped three softballs in their direction, and here's what they shot back at us. Look for our answers on their blog later this morning - I'm on my way to Columbia, or I'd link them myself.

Flounder's answers are below each of our questions after the jump.

1. Ryan Mallett made Alabama's secondary look awfully green for much of the first half of our visit to Arkansas. Is Steven Garcia QB enough to take advantage of Alabama's youthful secondary?

The Game

--

Somebody posted a message on Bamaonline saying something like: "If they had converted that early TD, and if Mosley doesn't run that TD back, this is a close game." Well, yeah, maybe, if that and a whole bunch more weird crap had happened.

But if there's no weird crap? We beat that team like a drum every time. They weren't good enough to be on the field with us, and after we stopped their first drive, it was pretty obvious they knew it.

Well, Oregon has finally sufficiently impressed me. They look great. I can't say that I disagree with Clay Travis when he says they'll drop a conference game that they shouldn't, but until they do, they look too good to ignore.

Ohio State continues to look good but not great, so they drop a bit. That means Boise State and TCU both climb. The other climber this week? Auburn. I've got them at six, and if they beat Kentucky convincingly this weekend, they'll be in the top five. Do I think they're that good? My answer - and the balance of my poll - after the jump. no comments

We'll have more to say about Bama's 31-6 whipping of Florida in the coming days, but I couldn't head to bed tonight without at least making a comment. The fact that Bama beat Florida on Saturday did not surprise me. The fact that Bama won by a large margin isn't really all that surprising. As an unabashed Bama fan, there is always that part of me that thinks Bama will win big.

What did surprise me is how easy the Tide made it look.
