Alabama's 8 pm Eastern time kick left me with plenty of time to analyze Saturday's action from the best possible place to seriously watch football: a packed Tijuana Flat's across the street from the swamp. They had TVs, $12 64 ounce beers, and, most importantly of all, four open seats for me and the crew I was with (thanks for saving us a spot, Heather!).
There, very little was clarified. A variety of strange and confusing games leaves us with the poll I've constructed.
I've moved the Tide into first place. If there's a better team in the country, we'll see it Saturday in Baton Rouge. Sadly, since Alabama broke John Brantley and Florida is on the road against LSU, an apples to apples comparison is nearly impossible. But we'll re-evaluate who is the number one team in the country next week. Wisconsin takes third by throttling what I thought was a very good Nebraska team. They're clearly not ready for the prime time. Oklahoma and Boise State round out my top five - the full poll is after the jump.

SB Nation BlogPoll College Football Top 25 Rankings »
In the airport yesterday, I was incredulous that Auburn had ascended to 15th in the AP Poll. When I constructed my own poll today, I saw why. The middle third of the poll imploded. Just all manner of disasters all over the place - Nebraska getting the woodshed, ditto for Florida, Virginia Tech, South Florida and TCU. Texas A&M and South Carolina both lost games I expected they'd win (how Marcus Lattimore only carries the ball 14 times against Auburn is a travesty and it seems on the replay that USC should have been allowed to try and rush the FG team on for an attempt with 2 seconds left... but still).
It really seems like each week things get less as opposed to more clear. We'll be back next week with another wild ass guess at the poll.
