Nick Saban released the depth chart for Saturday's Kent State game early this afternoon, and there are few departures from what we've been telling you.

There's still no starter at quarterback: "Someone's got to run out there first, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's the starter." Actually, Coach, that's exactly what it means. One of four guys will run out and take the first snap from center Saturday. It'll either be A.J. McCarron, Phillip Sims, Blake Sims or Trent Richardson. It'll likely be one of the first two, and, officially, Alabama will report that guy as the starting quarterback in the record books.

The offensive line showed some mild surprises as well. See those wrinkles, as well as the full depth chart after the jump.

The starting left tackle for Alabama will be Barrett Jones OR Cyrus Kouandjio. Jones is listed in an OR situation at the left guard position as well, with Chance Warmack. Write it down: one of those starters will be Barrett Jones, and I'd be shocked if it's not a left tackle. Coach Saban did note that Cyrus will play Saturday.

Moving across the rest of the line, there are no other surprises. William Vlachos starts at center, with Anthony Steen and D.J. Fluker anchoring the right side of the line.

It is noteworthy that the elder Kjouandjio (Arie) is not listed among the two-deep at any position on the line.

Blake Sims is also not listed anywhere on the chart. Not among running backs or quarterbacks. You can expect that Blake Sims will play, but it is certainly noteworthy that he's not officially in the top three at either position. In reality, an injury to either of the quarterback starters would likely elevate Blake Sims to a second-string position, but true freshman Phillip Ely is currently listed third (behind the co-starters).

The coaching staff is still optimistic that Duron Carter will be cleared - in fact, Duron Carter Tweeted that he'd be [sic] "FINALLY! COMING TO A STADIUM NEAR U", fueling speculation that he was cleared. We'll watch that closely and report anything there on the BSR Twitter feed this afternoon.
