As expected, the Alabama football team practiced in shells on Friday. Due to the extreme heat the Tide practiced inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
Here's what you need to know:
The injury situation still looks good.
No one other than the quarterbacks is in black. Demetrius Goode is still limited with a hamstring injury, and DeQuan Menzie is limited with his achilles still recovering from surgery. Don't be surprised to see both of them held out of the scrimmage on Saturday.
Preston Dial was not wearing the sleeve on his leg that he wore on Thursday, indicating that his injury was not serious.
Otherwise, there really wasn't much news, as the team used Friday to simulate a game-week Friday. The Tide is healthy heading into the first scrimmage, and that's great news. Things should begin to take shape in the next week as the staff is able to use the scrimmage to figure out who is the most game ready at each position.
While Coach Saban would warn that there is absolutely no depth chart at this point in time, we can gleen a little bit from the rotation that the guys practice in. There are certainly situations where one guy will practice ahead of another in order to get him more reps, but at this point in camp, the rotation in individual groupings is closest thing that we have to a depth chart.
With that in mind, this is how things shape up at the moment:

Bama will scrimmage on Saturday, and then have a day off on Sunday. We'll give you a full rundown of the stats from the scrimmage, with the caviat that scrimmage stats are very misleading.
Having said that, the scrimmage should begin to give us an indication as to how the team is progressing towards the season opener.
Once practice begins again on Monday, we'll have our normal reports.
