Two short weeks… it’s nearly that time.

  • Clemson lost starting defensive tackle Rashaad Jackson for a good chunk of the season, including the Alabama game. We’ll never celebrate another team’s injuries, but this one will make the offensive line’s job easier on August 30.
  • There’s a big party at Centennial Park on the day of the Clemson game. Unless there are HD TVs all over the park showing other games, I’ll be elsewhere.
  • Tony Barnhart thinks I’m dead wrong, and there will be no SEC Network. Tony’s right more than I am – but I think that there’s a huge audience for game replays, press conferences, etc. to be shown on a network that the SEC owns. I know I’m part of it.
  • ESPN’s SEC Blogger Chris Low is barnstorming through the SEC, and was in Tuscaloosa this week. He interviewed Saban (here’s part two) and talked with John Parker Wilson. On ESPN’s College Football Today (on Thursday), he also bragged on Julio Jones and Mark Barron, saying he thought Barron would play.
  • Kevin Scarbinsky kicks off the inevitable Forbes cover backlash. It continues here and here and forever.
  • The folks at Saurian Sagacity have an interesting way to compile a top 25. Alabama is ranked 13th. I kind of like it.
  • Another Florida blogger takes Tommy Bowden to task for saying the ACC was better than the SEC in the 90’s.
  • Georgia is #1 in the AP poll.

Fourteen days from right now, we’ll have a win-loss record.
