Good news! Bill Curry is no longer employed by the Worldwide Leader. Bad news. ESPN Radio has asked Dennis Franchione (a name I hoped to never have to spell again) to call games. His first? The Alabama-Clemson tilt from the Georgia Dome (thanks to the Rap Sheet for the heads up). That’s the report out of College Station, Texas today.
Clearly a (brilliant) promotional ploy, but Fran will do color to Dave Barnett’s play by play. This means many who would have never considered listening to ESPN radio will tune in to hear what horrible things Fran has to say about the Tide and their fans.
For all those upset about Tom Roberts getting the Tide color job - it could be lots worse. Fran’s nasally whine was hard to stomach when I liked him. And that time is long past.

“Well Dave in this situation I would run the option to the short side of the field” (insert wink face)

Or how about: “Dave, this is a really tough situation. In this situation, I think I would quit and leave town in the dead of night.”
