DJ Hall wasn’t drafted back in April, and many thought he’d have a hard time catching on anywhere. The Giants took a flier on him, and according to early reports, he’s blown them away. His effort and excitement have led the former Tide star to rave early reviews.
According to his hometown Northwest Florida Daily News:
Hall chose the Giants over numerous offers after the seven-round draft concluded, and from that moment he has been motivated to show everyone what he can do. At the team’s rookie mini-camp, he earned the nickname “Baby Fitzgerald,” after Arizona Cardinals star Larry Fitzgerald.
“I’m not sure if it’s because of my hair or hands, but it’s one of them,” said the dread-locked Hall. “I was excited and all that did was motivate me more because the older guys are looking at you.”
Also now with the Giants is former Tide player Wallace Gilberry. Michael Strahan’s recent retirement opens the door for Gilberry to contribute at the defensive end position.
We’ll keep you posted on both these guys as they progress through the mini-camps.
