The new polls are out and Bama has made a significant jump in both the AP (media) and USA Today (coaches) polls. In the AP poll the Tide jumped from #24 to #13. That's a jump from 89 voter points to 834 voter points. In the USA Today poll Bama went from being unranked - the first team listed in the "also receiving votes" list - to #17. From 83 voter points to 538 points. That's the type of huge jump that comes with demolishing a top ten opponent. Bama won't have that chance again until week five and the trip to Athens to face now #2 Georgia. If the Tide can play well and win the next three games there is a possibility of moving higher, though that would probably require teams in front of Bama losing. You don't really impress voters by beating Tulane or Western Kentucky.
