Thankfully the injury suffered to the knee of Jacobs Trophy winner Andre Smith is not serious. That was the initial indication, but time can tell a different story on injuries. It looks as though it is, in fact, a minor sprain according to Nick Saban:
Andre Smith has a sprained knee, he's going to be be day to day, will be out for a few days, I don't know if he'll play in this game or not. It's still up in the air and we probably won't know for a few days relative to how he heals.
I think that you can take that to mean that Andre won't play in the Tulane game unless Bama is struggling massively on offense and the game is in question. I would also guess that would be the same situation with the Western Kentucky game in two weeks. There just isn't a reason to risk it. Earl Alexander may be in a similar situation with an ankle injury. Again from Coach Saban:
Earl Alexander has a sprained ankle that's been kind of a chronic thing that flared up again in the game. He'll be in a boot for several days, it's unedetermined right now whether he'll be able to play in this game or not.
That could mean more opportunities for B.J. Scott, Darius Hanks, and Chris Jackson in the Tulane game.
