There's been no schedule release yet, but Georgia Tech is scheduled for an early 2009 visit to Coleman. Chris Stewart's Blog tipped us off to this. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 pm tip on January 3, 2009.
A couple of additional thoughts here.
First, someone needs to catch Mark Gottfried and tell him that as much as we all appreciate quality scheduling, do it a few weeks earlier or a few weeks later. The Yellow Jackets will play before roughly 7,500 announced fans (which will look more like 4,500). The student section will be empty, and the season ticket holders will straggle in late.
I know there are many hurdles to trying to schedule a game early in December or later in January, but other teams (see Tennessee) have overcome this - even scheduling an opponent on an off Wednesday during the conference season.
TV could move the game time, and a prime time game would probably generate more buzz (no Yellow Jacket pun intended). Here's hoping we won't have an empty gym on national TV.
