Week 3 brings some clarity. We think we know more, anyway.
All four of our authors voted and we've combined the polls.
So, here we go...
We awarded 1 point for a first place vote, 2 for a second and so on. Then we ranked the teams in descending order. Here are the totals.
1. Florida (3) - 5
1. Georgia (1) - 8
3. Alabama - 13
4. LSU - 14
5. Auburn - 22
6. Tennessee - 26
7. Ole Miss - 28
8. Vanderbilt - 33
9. Kentucky - 36
10. South Carolina - 37
11. Arkansas - 43
12. Mississippi State - 47
And, we start with more clarity in first place. Glen, Crump and I are sold on Florida; nxojkt sticks with Georgia. Glen rated Georgia 3rd.
The bottom three in the conference were nearly unanimous. Crump clearly has some sort of Spurrier man-crush, or he's back on the Wild Turkey. He in the only one who doesn't have some combination of South Carolina, Arkansas and Mississippi State as the bottom three. Somehow, he has the 'Cocks 6th.
Alabama bubbles up on my ballot to third - Glen keeps us at second, while nxojkt and Crump have Bama fourth. We'll know Saturday night whether or not LSU or Auburn deserves to be ranked ahead of the Tide.
We're efforting to have the SEC Power Poll up earlier in the week (think Tuesday) next week. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
