It's a big story any time that a Crimson Tide team wins the SEC in anything. But in this particular case it is an even bigger story...
Arkansas had won every SEC title since they entered the league - 17 in a row. But prior to that the Razorbacks had won 17 consecutive SWC championships. That 34 year streak came to an end today as Joe Walker's Bama squad won its first SEC title since 1973.
For the Tide is was a complete team effort, with five of Bama's runners finishing in the top 10 - led by Tyson David who finished 2nd. Emmanuel Bor finished 5th, Augustus Maiyo 6th, Abraham Kutingala 9th, and Andrew Kirwa 10th.
The other members of the 2008 SEC Championship Crimson Tide team are:
Nathan Corder, Austin Duckworth, Zac Edwards, Spencer Keel, Titus Koeh, David May, Terrell Mickens, Michael Niezgoda, Stephen Payne, Joe Purpura, Alex Seiver, Cameron Sherrill, Aaron Stockstell, and Chase Volinski.
Congratulations to all of these young men, head men's track and field coach Harvey Glance, and cross country coach Joe Walker!
