The SEC and the Papajohns.com bowl
announced this week a two-year arrangement to give the SEC
nine bowl tie-ins. The SEC's last bowl eligible squad will face-off with a Big East foe at the Old Grey Lady - Birmingham's Legion Field.
If the SEC has less than nine bowl eligible teams, then the Birmingham bowl will choose an at-large team.
More motivation for Alabama not to finish last among SEC teams: the prospect of playing on the west side of Birmingham for a bowl game.
