al.com are reporting that Nick Saban announced that defensive back
Lionel Mitchell has been declared medically unable to play and is now on a medical hardship scholarship. Mitchell was troubled with back problems throughout spring practice - this is no real surprise.
The news came during a summer update from Coach Saban. He shed light on a few more issues as well.
Will Oakley broke a bone in his foot in the weight room this week. He's expected back, but the start of fall camp is, in Saban's words "tight".
Brandon Lewis will not report this fall to campus according to Saban. He's either enrolled in junior college or
summer school, depending on whose report you believe.
This leaves Alabama with only 4 more players than allowed on scholarship (according to our math). When there is more information, look for more updates here.
