Auburn has hired former Arkansas assistant and
current Tulsa guru Gus Malzahn as their offensive coordinator.
This is... baffling. It seemed that the Gene Chizik hiring was about a return to defense and a run-first mentality. This guy does NOT run first - Tulsa passed for 371 yards per game last season.
It does, however, generate some positive excitement, which was something Auburn sorely needed. It will also surely help with recruiting - what passer or receiver wouldn't want to be a part of that?
It's just an interesting hire to go with their head coach.
