It is warm and sunny here in downtown Atlanta. Staying at the Marriott Marquis has turned out to be quite an adventure with lots of costumed folks showing up for Dragon Con. They tell me it is the south's largest sci-fi/horror/fantasy convention. It should be interesting when that group combines with the football group. Here's a heads up on driving conditions if you are driving to Atlanta from Alabama: There is, as expected, a lot of construction on Interstate I-20. In Alabama the two bad spots once you get past Birmingham are in Leeds and just east of Heflin (mile marker 202). In Heflin the left lane was closed for about a mile, though it looked like the might actually be finished before Saturday. Once you get into Georgia things get bad for a little while. The first 16 miles are being worked on, with some stretches where either the left or right lane are closed. If you are staying inside the downtown corridor where you will have to use I-75/85 to get to your hotel be prepared for lengthy delays. There is a major construction project being done on the stretch of that interstate where it connects with I-20. We did pass a good bit of Alabama folks on the road today. The RVs are here already and have taken their spots near the Dome. It's getting really close now.
