I'd love to be able to tell you about all of the great things that happened at practice today. Unfortunately for those of us in this business practices are closed to the media on Thursday and Friday, so we can't tell you anything specific that happened. What we can tell you is: There were no reported injuries. It's doubtful that Coach Saban would let us (or more specifically Clemson) know if something had happened to someone, but no news on injury front is better than hearing specifics about someone being injured. With that in mind it is quite remarkable that there have been no injuries. Will Oakley's foot injury just prior to the beginning of fall camp was the last significant injury sustained by a scholarship player, and that injury happened in the weight room. There have been no injuries suffered on the practice field more severe than strained hamstrings or mild concussions. That is pretty damn amazing. What is also amazing is that while I am typing this there is actual, real honest to god college football being played. The game does involve South Carolina so I do have some mild interest. But to be honest with you until the Tide is playing I won't truly feel like football season has started. The team will have a short practice tomorrow afternoon before leaving for Atlanta, though it will likely consist of nothing more than just a walk through. The team plane is scheduled to leave at 3:30 from the Tuscaloosa airport. With the flight being just 39 minutes, and taking into account the time zone change, Bama should arrive in Atlanta just after 5 p.m. on Friday. We'll do our best to let you know when they get to hotel - the Omni. Otherwise we'll have some predictions for the game.
