The Memphis Tider hosts this week's roundtable. Let's lock and load as the season approaches like a freight train.
1. Will JP use Julio as a crutch the same way he did with DJ Hall for the past two seasons?
No. We're deeper at receiver than we were last year - and not by just a bit. If
Brandon Gibson isn't in the top 7, then we're going to be really quite excellent at that position. Additionally, for the 473rd year in a row, we're promised this is the year we'll throw to the tight end more. We've got good ones there, and
McElwain's offense is designed to spread the ball around.
My best guess is we'll have griping about Julio not getting the ball enough before we have it about too much.
2. Would a loss in the opener be more beneficial for the freshmen than a big national win?
No. No. No. No. Sadly, I believe it doesn't matter - Clemson is quite good, and I'm not sure we can win. But this is a team that desperately needs to learn to win. It
must learn to win. We lost games last year we should have won - because we didn't know how to finish the game. Any time we can finish a game - a big game - and win one, we need it.
3. What will be the tailgate food of choice for opening weekend?
Opening weekend, it'll be whatever we can get our hands on near the Georgia Dome. Back home next weekend, we'll be working with hot dogs, brats, appetizers all afternoon long and cold beer. It'll be our first chance to get our new gameday digs on, and I'm looking forward to a long, great day of football, football, and more football.
Did I mention I'm looking forward to football?
