You may have been excited (like I was) to hear that Raycom games this year would be broadcast in "stunning high definition". Well, maybe not. According to Ian Rappaport at the Rap Sheet, we still lose:

That's because, while CW21 does broadcast HD like other Birmingham TV stations, neither the Dish, nor DirecTV, nor the local cable companies carry CW21 HD yet. They will not have to, legally, until 2012.

It does look like CW21 is available via Comcast in Tuscaloosa in HD (channel 435), but there's some very standard definition looking content on right now. Having never actually watched CW21 HD programming before, I don't know if it's real or an illusion. I should know if CW21 actually has HD in Tuscaloosa inside of 24 hours - the Gossip Girl tomorrow night is the next content that claims it'll be in HD - I'll watch just enough of it to know for sure. It is not on my regular DVR list. I'll also be recording the Hawaii-Florida game on Saturday - and now, it does not report as being broadcast in HD. If anyone has actual insight on this, let us know in the comments.
